Before the first season, the league chose a company to manage its commercial side. Dubai-based Innovative Production Group won the tender. IPG is now part of Flash Sports & Media Holdings. The company still handles the commercial side, organization, and production of the LPL. The new corporate structure brought additional funding to the league. And not just a small amount, but a full $20 million, which IPG plans to invest in the development of the LPL over the next two years. As a result, the league managed to attract more star players. Salaries increased. So, a record number of overseas players registered for this season’s draft – more than 650 foreign cricketers from 21 countries. After the preliminary selection, 242 overseas players made it into the final draft pool.

The existing franchises also went through a reset. There was more money, and team owners changed. Four of the five clubs underwent rebranding. With the increased budget, the tournament owners decided to launch a technological upgrade. For now, this means partially switching broadcasts to Ultra HD / 4K. The full rollout is expected by 2027. DRS Hawk-Eye technology, spider cameras, and drone filming have been promised. The tournament’s geography has expanded as well: matches are now played at four stadiums instead of two.

Teams and Squads Overview

Five franchises will fight for the title of Sri Lankan champion this summer. And the battle promises to be truly interesting. SC Jaffna Kings
